The Penny-wise Women

When one mother asked, "Have you noticed how food prices are shooting up?", mothers everywhere chimed in with a resounding "Yes!". Yes, they are going up.

It's not only food prices, though.

Times are changing. Prices are indeed rising, and when the old paycheck isn't increasing to keep up, fear can sometimes creep in. We realize, as we walk out of the grocery store each week, that we can't quite fit everything in our cart like we used to, because "everything" is no longer affordable. Swiss cake rolls are less expensive than a pound of broccoli. Nutrient-deficient white bread begins to look tempting when your usual 9-grain bread is costing close to $5.00. And heaven help you if you have a family member with special dietary needs or restrictions!

Well, realizing all this, we can do one of two things. We can hide in fear, bite our nails, and have panic attacks over the rising costs of food, clothes, gas, and other staples; OR, we can learn something we didn't know before.

I challenge you to choose the latter.

There is hope! If we each share what we know about frugal living and saving money in the every-day common of life, we will all benefit.

The purpose of this blog, Penny-wise Women, is to share what we as wives, mothers, women know about every aspect of our home-making lives. We can teach one another to garden or can foods or cook gluten-free meals or make our own frozen waffles or cleaning products. We don't all know everything, but each of us has some valuable nugget of wisdom to pass on.

That is why this blog exists. To educate. To exhort. To share.

Healthy eating, frugal living, freezing, canning, dehydrating, gardening, sewing, mending ... if you know something about it, we want to know it too. Why? Because we're determined to be virtuous, hard-working, self-sufficient women.

Proverbs 31:27 says, "She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness."

That's what we desire. If you desire it also, won't you join us on this learning adventure?

The learning curve is generous, the wisdom is plentiful, and there's sure to be laughter along the way.
